Build eighteen players, not just eleven
Choose a formation for the starting team, then complete the extended squad draft. The bench creates different decisions from a standard XI run: another spectacular attacker may add less value than cover for an exposed defensive or midfield role. Check each bench slot instead of treating the final seven picks as interchangeable reserves.
Depth has a job in the simulation
The engine evaluates starter quality, bench depth and rotation coverage. The squad report includes coverage, depth and a rotation modifier, with warnings when important reserve roles are missing. A substitute is therefore part of the team-building problem rather than merely a name on a separate list. No bench guarantees an invincible season.
What management decisions do I make?
You choose the formation, respond to randomized team and era prompts, allocate players to starter and bench positions and decide when to use limited rerolls. You are not negotiating salaries, setting ticket prices or issuing commands in a live match. The focus stays on building a coherent full squad from a constrained draft.
Learn from the season report
After the squad is complete, inspect both the match record and the squad report. Separate a weak starting lineup from poor coverage, then choose one thing to improve next time. If you want a shorter introduction, World XI keeps the same core draft with eleven picks. If you want a tournament rather than a domestic campaign, choose World Cup or Champions League.
