How the player draft works
Choose a mode and formation before the first round. Spin to reveal the club or nation and era that define your eligible player pool. Search or filter the available players, choose one, and place them into an open formation slot. Each selection is a commitment: picking a second striker does not create an extra striker position. Standard modes end after eleven picks.
Random prompts, deliberate decisions
You do not start with an unrestricted list of every superstar. A prompt might give you a brilliant forward when your remaining needs are elsewhere. Compare the player’s positions, the quality of other available options and the roles you still need. Standard drafts offer a limited team reroll and era reroll; fixed-club, fixed-nation and fixed-era challenges restrict the corresponding dimension.
Soccer draft versus fantasy football
This is a self-contained football-history game, not a fantasy league scored by upcoming real-world fixtures. You do not buy player cards, enter a transfer auction or wait for the weekend’s matches. Your drafted squad is tested by the game’s simulation as soon as the lineup is complete. It is also different from American football drafting: here you are building an association-football team.
Choose a pool you enjoy
Start with World XI for a mix of club and international history. Premier League narrows the context to English league football, while World Cup focuses on national-team tournament eras. If visible attributes make the decisions too easy, Ball Knowledge hides them. Manager Mode adds a seven-player bench for a longer full-squad draft.
Finish, compare and try another shape
After the last pick, inspect your record and tactical report. A higher-rated XI is not a guarantee of a perfect run; fit, balance and simulation uncertainty also matter. Share your result with a friend or use an optional account for leaderboard submissions. The next draft can test a different formation without changing the rules of the challenge.
